‘Rejuvenating a Defunct Industry’

Bengaluru, located in India, was once called ‘The Garden City’ - a bustling centre of India’s IT Hubs. Over the years, it’s shrinking green spaces and large pockets of defunct land were being under utilized, leading to abandonment. These lacunae have been trapped in their own decay. Being under the threat of demolition or poor redevelopment, these undertakings needed their identity to be restored.
These sites are essential being in the middle of cities and hold spatial and cultural characteristics.

NGEF, New Government Electric Factory is a site that is abandonded, leaving hundreds of acres of land to deteriorate. This piqued my interest that led to my research on adaptive reuse to assess the key problems with one proposal by enhancing the continuity of change.
